POSITION:

JUNIOR SOUS CHEF

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Junior Sous Chef at EDIT helps to keep the kitchen flowing well and supports the Head Chef and Sous Chef to ensure that all dishes are up to standard in taste, quality and presentation, providing cover as required.  

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Work as a creative chef across prep stations or lead on the pass without supervision, standing in for the Sous Chef as required

·      Prepare dishes to recipe specs and contribute to recipe and menu development ideas and creation.

·      Support the rest of the kitchen team in training and development, creating a positive, welcoming, safe and respectful environment for all employees.

·      Comply with and enforce all health and safety requirements

·      Order and manage stock as directed by the Head Chef and Sous Chef

·      Follow processes for storing and labelling food

·      Keeping the kitchen and dry store organised with all equipment and stock stored correctly

·      Ensure all dishes and drinks that leave the kitchen are of the highest presentation and plating standards and are being created consistently across the team.

·      Develop expertise of ingredients with a focus on provenance, sustainability and seasonality, advocating for our core principles

 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

•     At least three years working in a commercial kitchen environment, with ideally at least one year working in fine dining, sustainable food, plant-based cuisine

•     The confidence and ability to work in all areas of the kitchen without supervision

·      A friendly, energetic team player who is ambitious for career development

·      Able to legally work and live in the UK
